In 2018, Emerging Sports put together Asia’s first and largest ever sports literary festival bringing together some of the biggest names from Indian and international sports. In the first edition, the festival hosted 12 sessions over two days with nearly 50 speakers in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Packed audiences heard India’s Olympic Gold medallist Neeraj Chopra, former Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson, field hockey guru Ric Charlesworth, multiple gold-medal-winning Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice, fast-bowling legend Jeff Thomson, Indian Test batsman Ajinkya Rahane and former Test player Mohammed Kaif. There was also a phalanx of other Indian sporting talent – from wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, gymnast Dipa Karmakar, hockey greats Dhanraj Pillay, Dilip Tirkey and Sardar Singh.
Held just before the 2018 Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, a conclave of national and international sportswriters, authors, athletes, players, coaches met and exchanged views.
