From Bhubaneswar to the World

The Ekamra Sports Lit Fest’s story began in 2018, igniting a passion for sports literature in Bhubaneswar with a vibrant mix of 12 sessions and 50 speakers. Since then, the festival has embarked on a remarkable journey, expanding its reach beyond borders.

Through the editions, the festival has hosted Olympic gold medalists, bestselling authors, India’s leading athletes and leading voices in sports governance and athlete development creating a dynamic platform for sharing insights and fostering a deeper appreciation for the power of storytelling in the realm of sports.

New Delhi in 2019 welcomed the festival’s diverse voices and commitment to inclusivity. Stepping further in 2020, Toronto became a testament to the festival’s global appeal. In 2022, Gurugram embraced the Ekamra Sports Lit Fest, solidifying its position as a leading platform for sports storytelling.

Season 5, held in Bhubaneswar in 2023, was a time to celebrate the festival’s rich history. Season 6, in New Delhi, was an attempt to argue through difficult subjects like lack of inclusion, gender bias and at the same time celebrate books that have taken authors into uncharted territory.

Prominent attendees have included Neeraj Chopra, Ajinkya Rahane, Vinesh Phogat, Ben Johnson, Stephanie Moore, Jeff Thomson and Booker prize winner Shehan Karunatilake.
