Jitendra Nath Misra has a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University and is a retired Indian diplomat, serving as ambassador in Portugal and Laos, and consul general in Ho Chi Minh City. He is an advisor to the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha, on Sports, and a visiting professor at Jamia Millia Islamia. He was an associate adjunct professor and research associate at Georgetown University, a visiting professor at University of Lisbon and Vietnam National University, and a lecturer in Jamia Millia Islamia. He has published in World Policy Journal, India Review, Nacao e Defesa, Strategic Analysis, India Quarterly and IDSA Journal. A prolific writer on sports and foreign affairs, he has over one hundred op ed columns in India, Thailand and Vietnam. He is the author of Power, Politics and Field Hockey, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Newcastle- Upon- Tyne (forthcoming).
