Sport is not a mere word — it’s a commitment here in Odisha. It is a way of life in this state and a very intrinsic part of our culture. This commitment of the state towards sports can now be witnessed by everybody in this wonderful nation of ours and am proud that the denizens of my state support this vision to the full extent. Their enthusiasm has led to a resounding success of all our sporting ventures so far, We are also the proud sponsors of the Indian Hockey Teams and coming November, we will host the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 for which we would like to invite the entire nation and the world.

To further inculcate a sports environment, Bhubaneswar will host Asia’s first Ekamra Sports Literary Festival 2018 — an International Event which will bring together sports stars, littérateurs, national and international sports journalists and authors under one roof, to have conversations and share experiences from the sporting world. I wish this joint initiative of the Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha and Emerging Sports all the success. Would call upon all the people of my State to participate, collaborate and contribute whole heartedly towards this mega event which would showcase Odisha globally.

Partnering Odisha Government

The countdown towards making Bhubaneswar the Sports Capital of India has already begun under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik and enterprise of Secretary, Department of Sports & Youth Services, Mr. Vishal K Dev (IAS)

Through sports promotion and development of Sports Infrastructure throughout the state, Odisha Government’s aim of ancillary development will be combined with job creation and revenue generation.

As part of the initiative to develop a sports culture which can become a crucial component of socio-economic development of the state – the Sports Department has tied up with Emerging Sports to jointly host ASIA’S 1st INTERNATIONAL SPORTS LITERARY FEST 2018.

The mega event EKAMRA SPORTS LITERARY FESTIVAL will be held on November 2nd & 3rd , 2018 as a precursor to the Hockey World Cup being hosted in Bhubaneswar.

“Ekamra Sports Literary Fest 2018” marks a new chapter in the history of Odisha, during its period of progression towards being the Sports hub of the country. It is wonderful that such a prestigious event will be held as a run up to the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 as a joint initiative of the Sports Department with Emerging Sports. “Ekamra”, the ancient name of our capital city Bhubaneswar is reminiscent of our rich culture, tradition and heritage and reflects the glory which will emanate from this mega international event, thank the entire team for thinking Of such a grand initiative and convey my best wishes for its success.

It’s a pleasure for us to organize an esteemed event such as ‘Ekamra Sports Literary Festival’ which will see intellectuals from the sports realm globally come under one roof to talk about sports. We are the proud host of the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018, which takes place later this year from 28 November to 16 December, and this is a perfect event in the lead-up to the World Cup as it will make the local populace connect and fall in love with stories that drives the passion associated with Sports.
